BIS Report Inventory
Data Dictionary

The Berkeley Information Systems (BIS) is a data warehouse system. The purpose of a data warehouse is to bring together information from various operational systems into a single environment to serve the analytical and decision-making needs of an organization.

BIS is the data warehouse system for the current (new) chart-of-accounts that was implemented on July 1, 2000, and it contains data from the Berkeley Financial System (BFS), the Berkeley Integrated Budget System (BIBS), and Payroll (PPS). This data has been incorporated to form a strategic decision support system that supports the campus' analysis and planning process.

Query templates are provided for performing self-directed ad-hoc queries and reports, and tools are available for downloading data. BIS data is summarized to the unique chart string.

The BIS database is refreshed monthly, and is accessed via the Berkeley Reporting Portal.
